In 1994, prior to the International Women’s Year Conference in Beijing, Pride was “accredited” by the United Nations for IWY attendance.  The Chinese Embassy elevated PRIDE to an intermediary role with NGO’s from several countries to certify credentials, visas, and permissibility to attend the Conference and Forum in the Peoples Republic of China. PRIDE through its Border Economic Development Council, provided significant contributions to the World Bank and the Pan American Health Organization in addressing significant border and bilateral issues between the United States and Mexico.  This combined with PRIDE success with the indigenous community, provided a special advocacy and liaison role for the border region and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

In 1999, PRIDE was recognized by the United Nations under Special Consultative Status to UNESCO.  This official status permits PRIDE to be permanently represented at the United Nations in New York, Vienna, and Geneva in various capacities addressing humanitarian issues.  PRIDE is privileged as a member of the official United Nations Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGO).

PRIDE is intent on bridging regional bias through cross-cultural links into policy and program areas of the United Nations.  By approaching social enterprise options, PRIDE is expanding its role in defining sustainable initiatives for diverse at-risk communities.  As a consequence, PRIDE has taken the lead in developing stronger ties from the Pacific Rim through its base in Mexico, corporate headquarters in the culturally diverse area of Southern California, and China.  By maintaining solid liaison and representation at UN gatherings, PRIDE is preparing for important, practical projects to energize the potential of the many dedicated community organizations in need of empowerment.
