The Third Global Ethics Symposium and Youth Ambassador Summit

PRIDE Co-Founder, Dr. Yu-an Rao (left) and Honorable Chen Jian, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations

PRIDE and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute of World Religions, have co-hosted two symposiums. The first one was held in Beijing 1998, and the second one was held in Los Angeles in 2002 at UCLA.  July 7-10, 2005 the Third Global Ethics Symposium and Youth Summit will be held at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing.

PRIDE and CASS seek to explore, compare and exchange views on the impact of social and religious morality on global issues, and the Youth Ambassador Summit will demonstrate some of the character building and peacemaking tools they are promoting as Youth Ambassadors for Peace.  The research harvested through the symposiums is published in English and Chinese as one of the resource materials for developing a Global Ethics Curriculum.

The symposium represents a significant achievement in Sino-American collaboration under the United Nations mission to promote cross-cultural understanding, peace, and harmony.  Opportunities continue to flow for PRIDE in China, largely due to the success of these symposiums and PRIDE cross-cultural educational programs. PRIDE needs your help to succeed with the forthcoming symposium in July 2005.
